Can We Make Venti Great Again or Not in Genshin Impact
Oct 09, 2022

Source: MMOWTS

Venti is a character that everybody wanted when Genshin Impact first came out, but then a massive portion of the community started saying "he lost value", "he's not as strong as he used to be", "Kazuha is better" etc, to an extent, I suppose there's merit to some those claims, but not in the way you might think. Since Sumeru came out, he's now seeing quite a resurgence in viability and versatility in 3.1, which is exactly what I want to talk about, cause he's making a comeback.

Can We Make Venti Great Again or Not in Genshin Impact1

Firstly started by talking about some of the misconceptions and downsides Venti has faced in recent times. Starting with the statement "he's weaker, he's lost value". Which is not entirely true.

In my opinion, Venti is no stronger or weaker than he ever was, where does Venti thrive? In combat against large hordes of enemies. When the spiral abyss begin to feature heavier enemies, as well as straight up bosses and single target scenarios, and Hoyoverse even released an entire new cast of enemies, it is significantly more difficult for Venti. Therefor, people began relying less on Venti for clearing these new bits of end game content, and since this trend of bosses and heavy enemies wasn't going away, even after months of Inazuma being out, a good chunk of the player base began assuming that Venti would never be useful in the future.

But in fact, we've actually been seeing a nice resurgence in crowd control floors in the later levels of spiral abyss recently, those of which floors Venti thrives on, so he's been enjoying a steady playrate for quite some time now. So in general, with the portion of the player base that spouts about Venti being weaker, or even useless, I don't blame you, but I don't really agree.

I think what's really happening is that Venti's inflated dominance in the early days of Genshin gave a lot of people the impression that he was at a certain power level, when in fact his real power level is around what we see today. He's no weaker or stronger than he ever was, there are just a lot more team options and a few less scenarios nowadays, which is natural, and it happens to pretty much every character. Inevitably, the more characters that are released, the more options you have that will work better than other characters in certain situations, that's just how it goes.

Actually with the release of Sumeru, Venti has enjoyed quite a significant number of new teams and strategies that have made lots of people invest in him. Anemo characters have received some very interesting interactions with bloom and quicken, and Venti just so happens to be one of the best characters to capitalize on these new mechanics, thanks to his enjoyment of elemental mastery and his ability to constantly swirl.
