The ranked play in Black Ops 6 started on November 21st. Have you felt the increase in cheating when playing? Recently, Black Ops 6 has received many complaints about cheating. The prevalence of cheaters obviously undermines the fairness of the mode, and Activision has responded to this.
Cheating Has Become A Major Reputation Problem For Activision
Compared with CoD: Black Ops 6 Bot Lobbies, which can be easily won, the ranked play is more competitive. Therefore, players have strong negative feedback on the cheating problems in this ranked play. One fan said that he was not surprised by the cheating problem in Call of Duty. This is the fourth year he has heard similar news-since 2020, cheating in Activision games has been rampant.
Activision said that cheaters are not some amateur code enthusiasts, but organized illegal groups who carefully analyze every part of the data in the game, looking for ways to cheat, and use the hard work of game developers across the industry to profit.
Of course, cheat developers have flaws, such as having to pretend to be good at video games. So every time they cheat, they leave traces. The official also said that they will always look for these traces and continue to crack down on cheaters.
Because “cheating” has caused major reputation problems for Activision, Activision has spent millions of dollars to develop its anti-cheat technology and pursue cheaters in court, with some recent high-profile successes.
Official Release Of Anti-cheat Measures
Ricochet Will Continue To Ban Cheaters
Activision said that they have adjusted the detection system of its anti-cheat department Ricochet before the launch of ranked play. Currently, in order to remove cheaters from ranked game modes and leaderboards, Ricochet is doing “hourly sweeps”. It has now banned more than 19,000 players. And in order to speed up execution, they are still optimizing the code.
Restricting The Conditions For Players To Enter Ranked Games
In order to curb the prevalence of cheating, the game officials have also restricted the conditions for players to enter ranked play. To enter ranked play, you must win 50 multiplayer matches. This allows Ricochet to check the account’s important historical match records before deciding whether to approve the account to play the mode.
Enhanced Detection Function
Activision has adjusted the threshold of player ping during matches to better detect when players use VPN to jump to different server regions. In addition, it has launched enhanced detection functions to detect when players are AFK (intentionally not playing the game).
All the above measures will also be applied to the ranked matches of Call of Duty: Warzone launched during Season 1. These measures will effectively combat destructive behavior in the game.
Player Feedback Is Not Optimistic
Despite Activision’s release of comprehensive anti-cheat measures, some players are still skeptical about it. Some players think that the so-called anti-cheat measures are just complete propaganda.
Another user said: This terrible phenomenon has become so rampant that cheaters are giving us the middle finger on the leaderboard. How can the official have banned 19,000 accounts? Are you crazy? What’s going on?
It can be seen that Activision still has a long way to go in its anti-cheating mission. As an excellent game, the large-scale cheating phenomenon in CoD: Black Ops 6 has greatly affected the player experience. In order to gain the trust of players, Activision still needs to provide effective anti-cheating results.
