Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s new content continues after its release. The game’s first season, which launched not long ago, does a great job of adding a lot of changes to its core multiplayer. Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode is also expected to see some huge changes in the coming days.
The eye-catching Citadelle des Morts map was released on December 5th. Along with it, new perks, wonder weapons, weapon mods, and enemy types were also released.
CoD Black Ops 6 has done an excellent job of maintaining its popularity since its release in October, recording Call of Duty’s best launch month ever in terms of player engagement. To celebrate the game’s success, Treyarch recently launched a large-scale double XP event for Black Ops 6, but this exciting prospect has also brought its fair share of controversy.
Many players have reported that this double XP multiplier is not giving them the correct amount of experience, which has undermined what should have been a positive move by Treyarch to support the community.
The Problem With Black Ops 6’s Double XP Events
For years, well-timed double XP events have been a great way to engage players in Call of Duty’s core multiplayer experience, speeding up a particular game’s leveling system and encouraging players to make the most of their time playing multiple weekend-long events.
Black Ops 6’s approach to levels in particular has been praised by many fans for its clever return to Black Ops sub-series’ classic Prestige Master system.
This has given BO6’s multiplayer an addictive, clear goal to work towards over 1,500 levels, making double XP events something to celebrate. Most recently, a very lengthy double XP event was added to BO6, along with some exciting Season 1 content like the Hit List event, which brought new perks, weapons, and attachments to the game.
CoD BO6’s double XP event ran from November 27 to December 2, giving players a massive amount of XP over five days, although you can also unlock rewards through CoD: Black Ops 6 Bot Lobbies to quickly gain XP. This mode is often used to quickly upgrade weapons, complete challenges, or test new strategies without having to face the high-intensity battles brought by SBMM.
Double XP is a perfect complement to the game’s modes and gameplay, such as the return of Prop Hunt and Stakeout 24/7. Treyarch implemented this event as a direct thank you to CoD BO6 community for its contribution over the past month, although double XP has recently brought a pre-existing issue to the forefront of player discussion again.
Black Ops 6’s Double XP Was Marred
Many players claimed that the experience points they received during the event were far less than the alleged 2x multiplier, with many fans believing that the XP they received was even less than 1.5 times the experience points they would normally earn through standard gameplay.
This common perception has been further exacerbated by Treyarch’s previous acknowledgement of a similar error, with the first double XP event for BO6 having to be extended due to this error causing players to receive less XP than they should have.
Due to a previous bug, Treyarch extended the duration of the game’s first Double XP event, but the same courtesy didn’t extend to the five-day event. While Treyarch seems to think that the recent event went smoothly, the confusion caused by the lack of communication from the studio added a bittersweet atmosphere to what should have been a celebration of CoD Black Ops 6.
The above is the controversy caused by Black Ops 6’s Double XP. Do you think this problem will be improved in future games? I believe the official will realize the seriousness of this problem. After all, it is related to the player’s experience and game satisfaction.
