Diablo 4: Sorcerer Buffs And Changes In Patch 1.1.1
Aug 05, 2023

Source: MMOWTS

With the advent of Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.1, some classes are faced with the weakening or strengthening of some skills and damage. So here’s a quick summary of all the changes to Sorcerer class in patch 1.1.1. Because the class is currently in desperate need of some changes to start looking better, especially for Fire Sorcerers.

Skill Buff

Currently, the only viable endgame build for Sorcerer is Burning Frost build. So let’s see if the new patch changes that.

Diablo 4: Sorcerer Buffs in Patch 1.1.1 - Short & Sweet

Fireball

We started off with skills, we saw a buff for Fireball, its radius increased by 50%. Previously, the increase was based on distance traveled, but is now 50% of overall damage. Destructive Fireball now increases critical damage by 20%, up from 10%. Now if it hits at least 3 enemies, its damage bonus increases to 30%, rather than scaling with the number of enemies hit.

Chain Lightning

Also, this Chain Lightning Sorcerer build has been enhanced. Greater Chain Lightning now deals 5% more damage per bounce instead of a 25% chance when bouncing off you. So it’s a much better damage over time stream now.

Key Passive Buff

Moving on to key passive skills, we see an immediate increase in the damage dealt by Vyr’s Mastery and Esu’s Ferocity. Now, this Sorcerer build will get both damage bonuses when critically striking the boss. Plus, you can also boost the damage buff by investing more Diablo 4 Gold in these passive skills, making them more useful in boss fights.

For Combustion, the developer built Burning effects for Sorcerer to increase damage by 20%. And it has increased the damage to each unique source of burning by 2%.

So far, this Fire Sorcerer build has had a lot going for it. These buffs also make them more viable and stand a chance against established Frost Sorcerers.

Paragon Board Survivability Buff

Now we scroll down a bit and see that we also have some nice survivability buffs on this Paragon Board. This comes in the form of damage reduction, whether it’s a straight up buff, or a damage reduction buff that burns enemies.

This will help quickly boost the damage output of Pure Fire Sorcerers and Burning Frost Sorcerer. Therefore, Sorcerer can also be more flexible in the endgame, helping us quickly level up in Nightmare Dungeons and gain more unique Diablo 4 Items.

Legendary Aspects Buff

Sorcerers’ final buff comes from Legendary Aspects. Some Legendary Aspects can even make our damage directly cover the full additional burning damage. Sometimes even double the damage we had before, such as Aspect of Engulfing Flames.

For Chain Lightning, we saw its number of bounces increase from 2 to 4. And Serpentine Aspect now also applies to Hydra’s enchantment effect. Hopefully, we’ll see more Hydra buffs from this, as I think it’s one of the coolest abilities Sorcerer has.

Overall, Sorcerer will receive a much-needed buff in Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.1, hopefully offsetting the massive nerf the class suffered early in the season. What are your thoughts on the changes to Sorcerer in this new patch? Do you think Sorcerer would be in a better position now? It will release the patch on Tuesday, August 8th, and we’ll see you in-game until then!
