Elden Ring Fan Shocked Caelid's Giant Dogs Can Be Repelled By A Torch

Over 400 hours and just now will we find out how to eliminate those stupid dogs.

Elden Ring Fan Shocked Caelid's Giant Dogs Can Be Repelled By A Torch

If there's something that all Elden Ring fans agree with, it's that Caelid sucks. Rot-filled swamps infested with monstrous crows and huge dogs how big T-Rexes? No thanks. I'd skip it whether it wasn't necessary for Ranni's questline.

But as it happens there’s an item that could make Caelid much easier. Not easy, mind you, but it's easier, also it’s large as a result of a single item switching off those giant dogs.

One Redditor just had their mind blown after discovering the Beast-Repellent Torch. "Guys, I have 400+ hours in Elden Ring," MathematicianHot4685 wrote around the Elden Ring subreddit. "Why did nobody let me know there is a torch that repels these monstrosities?"

There are lots of responses within the comments that note the Beast-Repellent Torch’s ability is printed within the name, but few note how easy it's to completely miss this Torch in a given playthrough. The Beast Repellent Torch is just available from just one merchant touched away within an otherwise unremarkable corner of Dragonbarrow, without a penny around him except monstrous dogs and dragons. Not exactly a high-traffic area. You could easily go the whole game without ever visiting.

Once equipped, the Beast-Repellent Torch could be a godsend for Tarnished seeking to have a more peaceful stroll with the Lands Between. In addition to stopping Caelid's giant dogs from attacking, additionally, it stops regular dogs, wolves, bears, sheep, bears (although not Runebears, sadly), rats, giant rats, Basilisks, and Crystal Snails from getting all up inside your grill. It works while riding atop Torrent also it even works if you have it strapped to your back while two-handing a weapon.

The Beast-Repellent Torch does NOT, however, focus on bats or Caelid's Monstrous Crows. Those will still attack whatever flaming stick you wave within their faces. Also, when the giant dog in Caelid has red, glowing eyes, the torch may have no effect, and also the giant dogs at Mountaintop from the Giants will not be deterred through the torch when they have glowing eyes or otherwise.

Check the northwest corner of Caelid after reaching Dragonbarrow to obtain the Beast-Repellent Torch and teach those dogs to step back. Who knows? We might need this torch when the upcoming Shadow from the Erdtree DLC happens to be full of dogs.

While some people are still attempting to fend off Caelid's hounds, another medication is looking for more challenges from Elden Ring. One number of modders has had to add entirely additional features, for example, weapons, and skins, along with a new boss called Odeon, the Primeaval Current. It's a take around the Elden Beast however with a blue motif along with a penchant for casting Flintstone spells that turn Elden Ring right into a bullet hell.
