It appears like FromSoftware is carrying on the tradition of keeping quiet following a big announcement
I was there for that long wait between Elden Ring's initial 2019 announcement and it is released in 2023. There was a collective, named-upon despair—the kind just the most devout of FromSoftware gamers can summon—in the lack of further news following its E3 2019 trailer.
History is doomed to repeat itself. While we have been given a screenshot—one which has been the source of the entire Erdtree's price of speculation—FromSoftware has otherwise been characteristically mysterious regarding their upcoming DLC, Elden Ring: Shadow from the Erdtree.
It doesn't help that the end-of-show announcement in the Summer Game Fest left fans reeling. We've been awaiting more news to devour, so a game title introduced as "a change at an expansive world we can not wait to understand more about again" is tantalising you could hear the whole internet shuffling towards the edge of its collective seat.
It ended up being a look at Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. While the next instalment within the remake is unquestionably welcome news, it's left us lowly tarnished and stranded within the Lands Between. A thread around the game's subreddit mourning the insufficient news having a very apt gif from the "madness" debuff has gathered nearly 15,000 upvotes.
u/bloodhunter2500 will follow my assessment around the cyclical nature of the news starvation: "Almost 24 months ago, age hollowing ended, however, it seems that those times of gold have started to an end, along with a new era of hollowing begins."
Though a high level more seasoned FromSoftware fan, you will possibly not be very surprised, as u/BannedSvenhoek86 states: "We probably will not get much until after [Armoured Core 6]. It's not [FromSoftware's] thing to visit crazy with pre-release material, specifically for something like a DLC."
I'm sure the revival of Armoured Core is a superb reason for a slower DLC release schedule—and I'm certain that it will be a lot more than worth the wait. It's looking most likely, however, that we'll receive into the cockpit of the mech well before we brush from the rust on our tarnished souls.
Alternatively, as u/Igagug suggests, "They're likely to announce DLC release date and Bloodborne on PC at the same time, just waiting." While the likelihood of that is slim as you would expect, I can't judge anyone for locating coping mechanisms, especially in the face of much more months of theory-crafting.
