Welcome back to my Elden Ring walkthrough guide. Today we’ll take you through Murkwater Cave and the surrounding area, showing you how to defeat all the enemies and find all the items.

Go To Murkwater Cave

Murkwater is a small canyon river that flows from Agheel Lake to the end of the lower plateau of Limgrave. We can enter this canyon from Agheel Lake by Torrent to avoid the poison clouds ejected by Land Squirt.

Go under the bridge and you’ll find a Fire Grease on the right, and come across Skeletal Bandits and Skeletal Militiamen. Undead enemies like this drop to the ground and glow when their health drops to zero. You then have to attack them again when they’re down to wipe them out completely. If you don’t, they’ll come back to life and attack you again at full health.

Continue north with Torrent, and you will automatically dismount when you reach the entrance of Murkwater Cave. This happens because intruders have started entering your world.

How To Beat Bloody Finger Nerijus?

Soon, Bloody Finger Nerijus appeared as an intruder. He was all red and appeared a little north of the cave. He can attack with a powerful dagger with blood capabilities and ranged attacks. This means that even if it’s not a one-shot kill, he can reduce your health quickly.

You’ll need to equip your shield, block his quick dagger thrusts and dodge his powerful thrusts. Remember to keep a medium distance with Bloody Finger Nerijus and play defensively, because rescue is coming.

About 45 seconds after Nerijus appears, Bloody Finger Hunter Yura will join your faction as an ally. His attacks will distract Nerijus from you, but you can’t rely on Yura to fight this fight for you. You can heal between fights and attack Nerijus from behind, then back off and let Yura ambush him.

Like any invading NPC, Nerijus can heal himself once with his own potion, and then he’ll run out. After defeating Nerijus, it rewarded players with Reduvia. Here is an amazing legendary blood dagger he uses.

Then Yura left. But if you want to meet him or talk to him further, just ride Torrent north and you’ll find him beneath the ruins covering the canyon. You can then ride back to where you dismounted and enter Murkwater Cave.

Explore Murkwater Cave

We should note that you can spend 200 Elden Ring Runes at Merchant Kale in Church of Elleh to get a Torch in advance. This will help to better light the way.

The cave has a simple layout with several illuminated areas. You need to activate Sites of Grace inside, then pick up Cave Moss and head to the next chamber.

Then, you’ll see some Highwaymen in the sunlit cave, and the wandering Highwaymen will move and attack. Note that there’s also a tripwire trap here, which will alert several other enemies in the next cavern.

You’ll want to follow the route that the first Highwayman came to you carefully, avoiding signaling the others. Simultaneously, you can’t fight directly outside the cave, which may also cause several Highwaymen to emerge from the cave and attack.

Fight With Patches

Then we return to the previous cave, ready to fight with Patches. But this boss is not difficult, you just need to enter and go through the cave and open the chest. And his spear attack has a long finish time, which gives you time to counter quick attacks and defend against counter attacks.

When Patches drops below half health, he will start begging. If you stop attacking him and wait, the boss’ fight will be over quickly. He will give you a Golden Rune[1] and a Grovel for Mercy emotion. Talk to him and he will agree to open a store.

Patches sell some significant items, including Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot and Missionary’s Cookbook [2]. You’ll also get Grace Mimic and Margit’s Shackle from him, unique items you can use during the upcoming boss fight. You can then use the pool of light nearby to exit the cave. But you can also reload the area by quitting the game and restarting.

You can still take items from chests you opened previously, and there’s another new chest in the corner. If you ask Patches about this chest, he will provide a misleading answer. Opening the new chest triggers the teleport trap and triggers Patches’ first betrayal.

You’ll be teleported to Mistwood Forest in East Limgrave, right between two giant Runebears. Don’t worry, you can just summon Torrent and ride away before they notice. This Murkwater Cave exploration tour is over. Have a great day.
