WOW Classic SOD Phase 2 has been launched for nearly a month. If you have completed the main quest of Phase 2 and are looking forward to new content, then you cannot miss this guide.

In this guide, I’ll share a key tip to help you prepare for SOD Phase 3, which is farming Mallet of Zul’Farrak.

One of my favorite Classic Vanilla dungeons, Zul’farrak, will be available in the next phase of Season of Discovery! Mallet of Zul’Farrak is a must-have item for any player who wants to fully complete Zul’farrak dungeon in Tanaris. Without Mallet, players cannot summon one of Zul’farrak’s optional bosses, Gahz’rilla.

Therefore, if you are looking for something interesting and useful to do while waiting for the new phase, then finding Mallet of Zul’Farrak must be your first goal.

Why Get Mallet Of Zul’Farrak?

Zul’farrak has always been popular with many WOW players. It not only has dangerous bosses for players to challenge but also rich loot waiting to be explored.

One of my oldest and fondest memories from WOW Classic is getting both Jang’thraze and Sang’thraze on my first run with my Hunter character. These swords combine to create Sul’thraze the Lasher, an epic two-handed sword. Most of all, I really enjoyed the troll-themed dungeons and raids and the setting of this dungeon.

The ultimate boss in the dungeon is Gahz’rilla, a level 46 Elite NPC that can only be summoned if you or someone in your party has Mallet of Zul’Farrak to ring his gong. It's not a long or difficult process, you can just go ahead and grab it so you're ready for the next phase.

Prepare

If you want to do this at level 40, you’re going to want to build a team. Until then, I highly recommend investing in some WOW Classic SOD Gold to level up your hunter. Because you’ll be fighting a group of high-level elites, and Hunter won’t have to deal with dodges, parries, or resists. This can be done in a group of any size, so feel free to gather your guild and raid!

How To Find Mallet Of Zul’Farrak?

First, we need to obtain Sacred Mallet dropped by Qiaga the Keeper, who can be found at Altar of Zul waypoint [48, 68] in Hinterlands.

It’s important to note that everyone in the group needs to hit Qiaga the Keeper at least once, so make sure your caster isn’t resistant to all spells before killing her.

Once everyone has Sacred Mallet, you’ll want to go to Jintha’Alor in the southeast part of Hinterlands. This is a troll maze filled with high-level elites. You need to ascend Troll City and bless Mallet on the top Altar of Zul, turning it into Mallet of Zul’Farrak so you can summon Gahz’rilla in Zul’farrak.

Here are two ways to accomplish this goal. The first is to run as far in as possible, die, and then run back to your body until you reach the top. Or the slow trek to the top of a mountain with everyone missing their attack.

While the first option may be better if you’re alone, I highly recommend choosing the second. Because if you do it with a group of people, it can be a lot of fun and there’s always a chance of getting some good loot that you can sell later!

Once you reach the top of the mountain, everyone needs to bless their Mallet using Mallet near Altar of Zul, and then you’re all set to take on Zul’farrak in Phase 3!
