WOW The War Within: What Balance Issues Does Delves Have?
Nov 26, 2024

Source: MMOWTS

Delves in WOW The War Within are similar to small dungeons, which allow up to 5 players to enter in a team. Players can play alone or with friends or NPCs, and it only takes more than ten minutes to play Delves. This means that players can get rich rewards for investing time and skills in a short period.

This sounds good, players can have a more flexible way to play, and single players also have the opportunity to experience more rich content and obtain equipment in World of Warcraft. However, at present, Delves in WOW The War Within are not as perfect as imagined, and it still has many balance issues.WOW The War Within: What Balance Issues Does Delves Have?

Brann Bronzebeard

Brann Bronzebeard is the player’s NPC companion in Delves. His original position was a formal teammate with tanking, healing, and damage abilities, but he was greatly weakened on the first day of the expansion pack.

Later, because some players quickly upgraded him by doing too many Delves, his level cap was changed to level 15. So some players’ Branns returned to a lower level.

The official wanted to make Brann Bronzebeard reach a relatively balanced state: make him useful enough for ordinary players, but at the same time avoid him being too powerful for those who just want to use Delves to earn rewards.

So after that, Brann Bronzebeard suffered many adjustments, weakened, strengthened, weakened... but it always seems difficult to achieve a perfect balance.WOW The War Within: Brann Bronzebeard

Single-player And Team Games

Delves allows players to choose to play alone or in a team. Regardless of which method is used, players can obtain corresponding rewards such as WOW The War Within Gold. However, there are also some balance issues between these two ways of playing.

Players found that it seems easier to complete Delves in a team than alone. This is actually due to the mechanism of WOW-the game officials have always adhered to the concept of “you are better together”, so in some cases in the game, the power and health of monsters will actually decrease accordingly as the number of players increases.

The official tried to fix this problem, but it made the team players feel weakened, so in fact this problem is not easy to solve.

Some Classes Have Difficulty Surviving In Delves

In some Delves, melee classes or those with frequent interrupt abilities seem to have an easier time, while those that lack certain abilities and high damage will have a harder time. The last mega-boss Zekvir requires spell interrupts to survive, which is particularly disadvantageous for some classes with long cooldowns - such as Priest and Druid.

Pet classes also have a hard time surviving in high-level Delves. Even if the player is wearing Mythic raiding gear, their pets may be killed in one hit. Obviously, this is fatal to Beast Mastery hunters, and most of the damage caused by this class comes from their pets.

Brann Bronzebeard’s Talent Tree and Relics include providing players with abilities that may be lacking, so in theory, he should be able to solve these problems. However, because of the many nerfs he has suffered, his role seems very weak.

Gear From Delves Is Too Powerful

Players can use Restored Coffer Keys to increase the loot rewards in Bountiful Delves, which can be obtained by playing other open-world activities. Completing the highest difficulty Delves with Coffer Keys will reward Normal raid level loot, and the weekly vault reward is Heroic level. Players can use up to four Restored Coffer Keys per week.

Given the short and fast-paced nature of Delves, these rewards are not as high as those obtained in dungeons, but they are still very cost-effective to obtain. Of course, this is assuming that Delves do not have equipment balance issues.

The problem is that some gear in Delves is tuned to be too powerful for some characters in the game. Although they have been nerfed recently, they are still not at a reasonable level. This has led some players to prefer using Restored Coffer Keys to obtain the overpowered gear from Delves - even players who have Mythic raid gear.

As you can see, Delves are not perfect and cannot meet the needs of all types of players. But the game officials are trying to improve these problems recently. Believe that in the near future, Delves can bring a better experience to players.
